NPR was doing a story over the weekend about a rush of women running for office in Mexico and they tweeted that it's being called "el ano de la mujer." Which was supposed to mean "the year of the woman." Except . . . it doesn't.
"Año" with a tilde over the "ñ" means "women." "A-n-o" without the tilde, which is what they wrote, means "anus." So NPR hailed . . . "the anus of the woman." And after people pointed it out, they quickly deleted the tweet.
